What is Deep End Fitness?
Deep End Fitness is a performance training system that combines breathwork, aquatic conditioning, and mindset development. Built by Marine Raiders, it’s designed to help individuals build strength, mental resilience, and confidence underwater and in life.
Where do you offer classes?
Deep End Fitness Tallahassee classes are conducted primarily at Morcom Aquatics Center at 2560 Pottsdamer St, Tallahassee, FL. The state-of-the-art facility is located off-campus next to the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course. The main pool - where we hold our General Classes - features up to 30 practice lanes which are 8 feet in depth and maintains a water temperature of 80 degrees. The dive well is 17 feet deep, and that's where we hold our Advanced Classes. Parking is free. And students can take the FSU bus system to get their free from main campus. Other pools may come on-line soon for Deep End Fitness Tallahassee pool training. However, our Breathwork classes can take place in multiple studios locations throughout the city.
What happens in a typical Deep End Fitness session?
Deep End Fitness sessions have been likened to "CrossFit in a pool." Each 90-minute session contains Stretching, Breathwork, and 2-3 Workouts of the Day (WOD's). First time attendees go through an Orientation to assess aquatic ability and teach the foundational building blocks of relaxation, economy of motion and efficient breathing. Others who have completed an Orientation go into the Workouts of the Day (WOD's). Workouts can be modified for each participant to match experience or skill level. Modifications can go up with advanced athletes and down to non-swimmers or beginners.
Do I have to be a good swimmer to participate?
All levels of swimming ability are welcome! Workout exercises can be modified to accommodate multiple levels of swimming proficiency. If a participant cannot swim or is uncomfortable in the water, then Private Classes are the perfect way to learn and get comfortable.
Do I have to be in good physical condition to participate?
Although Deep End Fitness workouts can be adjusted by physical abilities, it is important to note that these are still strenuous physical activities that involve swimming, breath holding, weight lifting, and many body-weight exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, squats, etc. You should consult with your physician prior to starting Deep End Fitness classes.
What do I need to bring to class sessions?
To participate in our Deep End Fitness classes you'll want to bring the following: a bathing suit that you can be active in; a mask or goggles (Note: a mask is a diving mask with a nose pocket, goggles just cover the eyes and do not have a nose pocket. If you wear goggles, we strongly recommend larger volume goggles like the Cressi Skylight goggles as they are more comfortable and safer for going underwater.); a water bottle, a towel, and of course - a positive attitude! I don't have a mask or goggles, can I rent or buy them? If you don't have a mask or goggles you can either rent them or buy them. When you sign up for a class, just click the Products link and you can pick out what you would like. We recommend that you rent at first to try the style and size that fits you best, then you can purchase the mask or goggle that fits you best. As a Deep End Fitness Tallahassee participant, you will also receive a discount on your mask or goggle. For Breathwork classes just bring comfortable clothes that allow stretching and mobility, a water bottle and a yoga mat or towel.
